Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki extended a hand of friendship to All Progressives Congress State Youth Leader Tony Adun, better known as Tony Kabaka.
He also said his government belongs to all Edo residents, regardless of their religious and ideological differences or political affiliations.
Following the governor’s invitation, Kabaka was at Government House in Benin City to receive gifts to celebrate the festivities with his family.
Receiving Kabaka, Obaseki said that despite his membership in another political party, he was not an enemy but a friend of Adun, adding: “I am governor of all the people of Edo, no matter what. be their political affiliations “.
Obaseki, who was represented by his chief of staff, Osaigbovo Iyoha, said: “I welcome Tony Kabaka to Government House. In the spirit of Christmas and reconciliation, this cow and these bags of rice are for you and your family to celebrate Christmas. We are brothers and a family; whatever the events of the past, we are still friends.
In his response, Adun thanked the governor for his kind gesture and spirit of forgiveness.
He said, “Your Excellency, God bless you for these gifts. Thank you for taking pity on me. I never expected that from you; I am happy with what you have done for me today.
“Politics is not about do or die. I am happy; it will show others a good example that despite our different political divisions, we are still brothers and family.
Youth leader APC, who noted that criticism from the opposition party was aimed at putting the government on its guard to deliver quality projects to the people of the state, added: “Politics is an issue. Game ; the opposition party criticizes the government for allowing it to work effectively for the people of Edo state and also to develop the state.
“The governor is my brother and this kind gesture of Christmas presents on his part shows that politics is not about do or die; this initiative is encouraging, because I am learning from him.
