Christmas gifts bring joy to eastern Ukraine war zone

EASTERN UKRAINE — This Christmas, as families in eastern Ukraine are affected by the ongoing conflict with rising military tensions on the border with Russia, Great Commission Media Ministries continues to provide support hope to this troubled region through its Power to Change awareness campaign.

Their founder Hannu Hauka traveled to eastern Ukraine to help distribute vital Christmas gifts to needy families and children as well as to soldiers on the front line.

As a major media evangelistic campaign continues to reach millions of homes in eastern Ukraine, Great Commission Media Ministries is also providing practical and spiritual support to those affected by tensions in the area of war.

As part of their Power to Change awareness campaign, they have also distributed Christmas gifts to hundreds of children in this troubled region, as explained by their founder Hannu Hauka.

Hannu HaukaCEO and Founder of Great Commission Media Ministries:

Everyone received a beautiful box of chocolates with the Christmas theme on the cover. And then we also gave out warm hats, warm gloves and warm socks for every child that was there because they wouldn’t have the opportunity to go to a store and they were obviously very grateful. The children danced and they sang. It was a wonderful atmosphere to be in this school.

Haukka says they were also able to distribute their Power to Change booklets to soldiers on the front line.

Hannu Hauka:

They won’t allow you to photograph them but one of them did and he immediately took it and started reading it and you could see the smile on his face. He was very happy.

And the Power to Change campaign aims to touch many more lives in eastern Ukraine as it continues into the new year.
